Charleston in Fall 2026: A Look at the Market & Life in the Lowcountry
A lot is happening in Charleston this fall. The real estate market remains steady, the local economy continues to see new investment, and there’s always something happening around the Lowcountry.
A Steady Charleston Real Estate Market
Through August 2026, Charleston real estate transactions were up 4.8% compared to the same period last year, while the median price of closed sales increased 2.2%. The median price for homes and condos is currently around $450,000, with mortgage rates around 7%.
With varying trends across neighborhoods and property types, local market knowledge remains important for both buyers and sellers.
Growth Across the Lowcountry
Charleston’s growth extends well beyond real estate. Charleston Southern University recently received $1.25 million to expand its aeronautics program, while Boeing and Korean Air finalized a 103-aircraft order, including 25 Dreamliners assembled at Boeing South Carolina.
New investments in Dorchester County and Ridgeville are also expected to bring additional jobs and economic activity to the region.
And, of course, there’s the food. Charleston was named the No. 2 Foodie City in the U.S. for 2026, adding another reason to get out and enjoy everything the city has to offer.
