January in Charleston brings a fresh start and a full calendar of winter favorites to kick off the New Year. As the holiday rush fades, the city remains vibrant, offering locals and visitors alike numerous ways to enjoy the Lowcountry during the cooler months. From food and arts to family-friendly activities, January is an excellent time to explore everything Charleston has to offer.

Food lovers can look forward to the return of Charleston Restaurant Week and Charleston Comedy Week, two annual highlights that showcase the city’s vibrant culinary and performing arts scenes. These popular events provide the perfect opportunity to try a new restaurant, revisit a local favorite, or enjoy a night of laughs while supporting Charleston’s vibrant hospitality and entertainment communities.

Winter fun continues on the waterfront with ice skating at the Charleston Harbor Resort, open through January 19. Skaters can enjoy seasonal cheer alongside stunning harbor views, making it a favorite winter activity for both residents and visitors. Theater enthusiasts will also enjoy Sense and Sensibility at the historic Dock Street Theatre, running from January 21 to February 8, as Jane Austen’s beloved classic comes to life on one of Charleston’s most iconic stages.

Sports fans won’t be left out this month. The South Carolina Stingrays return to the ice with home games on January 4, 16, 17, 23, 24, 25, and 30, offering plenty of opportunities to catch fast-paced hockey and enjoy a fun night out in Charleston.
